About Me

Welcome to Kindergarten!

My name is Holly Srayko.  I am excited to be your child's teacher this year.  Kindergarten is a very exciting time full of new experiences, friends, and a lot of learning everyday.  I am looking forward to growing and learning with you and your child.

I've been teaching in Rocky View Schools for more than 20 years. I taught middle school for my first few years but when the opportunity to teach Kindergarten came I jumped at it.  I spent many years teaching Kindergarten at Ralph McCall School before coming to Heloise Lorimer when the school opened. Needless to say, I have found my place in this world and love coming to work everyday to help my students learn.

I strive to make our classroom a bright, cheerful, and safe environment for the children.  I sincerely believe that learning should be real and relevant for children.  I endeavor to structure my kindergarten program around the process of learning.  When children are able to make meaning of learning for themselves they are much more likely to retain their knowledge.  In addition, when children are able to work at an appropriate level they are more likely to see themselves as capable and therefore are more confident in themselves as learners.

This is an exciting year in Kindergarten. We are implementing new curriculum in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Physical Education and Wellness, Science.
