Music

Samantha Kennedy

My name is Samantha Kennedy and it is my pleasure to welcome your child to my classroom for a wonderful year of learning.  This year in music, students will sing, move, perform and play a variety of instruments. In elementary music, we will explore hand drums, djembes, boom whackers, xylophones, tone bells and small auxiliary percussion. Later in the year, Grade 4 and 5 students will also learn how to play the recorder and ukulele!

I strongly believe in the importance of music education for children.  Below, I've attached some links that demonstrate some of the benefits for children's health, brain development, and academic achievement:

Our Class Mission

Music should be accessible and enjoyable for all students. I strive to create a classroom environment where all learners have the opportunity to explore and work to their fullest potential; a classroom filled with opportunities where students feel safe to show their unique creative qualities and individual strengths.  I encourage my students to be innovative problem solvers and try to motivate them to become lifelong learners.  I understand that education is a partnership between students, parents, school, and community. I look forward to partnering with you to support your child’s success.
